    precision rifles... show em

My 700p in 338LM, the flagship. The whole of my precision arsenal. Front to back: ar-15/223, 700 aac-sd/308 in lss chassis, 700sps varmit in h-s precision stock/308, M1A in sage ebr chassis (need a scope), my 700p in 338lm and mcree chassis, and my barrett m99 in 50bmg!

Gunsmithing Convert a 700 long action to 338LM?

So I have been doing the math and a 338 build with the parts left over from my last build will be about ~$2,200 as opposed to doing a brand new 300wm build costing~$4,000. Doesn't look like a 20" barrel really hurts ballistics that bad either based on looking at data on longrangehunting.com and...

700 aac-sd, mdt lss chassis, kryptek camo

Thanks for the compliments, I put a lot of thought into this build as I plan on carrying it as my hunting rifle for years to come. As for the small fore end I plan to add a magpul angled fore grip to it that's coming off of one of my ar-15s. It's super light and balances very well. I'm a happy...

Gunsmithing Convert a 700 long action to 338LM?

I just looked at the savage 11/111 long range hunter model and with a $1,340 msrp I think that's the best option for me. I didn't even think about savages. Going to sell my parts to grab that rifle and skip the headaches. Thanks.

Gunsmithing Convert a 700 long action to 338LM?

The thing is that I have all the parts I need besides the action for a 338LM build. They were either taken off of the original rifle I used as a base or were part I decided not to use. I could sell the parts but why sell quality stuff for less than they are worth to get rid of them when I can...

700 aac-sd, mdt lss chassis, kryptek camo

First impression is it's probably a little less durable than duracoat. But as long as you aren't dropping it down hills and smacking into rocks an trees like a bull in a china shop it'll stay for the long haul. Cost $100 for the whole chassis to get dipped. SXW has a bunch of other patterns too.

700 aac-sd, mdt lss chassis, kryptek camo

So this is my light weight/long range hunting build. Remington 700 aac-sd in 308, 1:10 twist, surefire 7.62 brake, MDT LSS chassis, vortex 6.5-20x50mm scope (mildot), Remington x mark pro adjustable trigger (don't hate, I really like them). Cerakote in patriot brown, straight barrel fluting...

Gunsmithing Convert a 700 long action to 338LM?

So I've taken a look at some of the actions I can buy for ~$500 to convert and am thinking is there much of a difference between the 300WM and 300UM in terms of one being better suited for a conversion? Now please note that I am still hovering over the buy button for a stiller action but I'd...

Gunsmithing Convert a 700 long action to 338LM?

Well there is another issue with getting a custom action than instead of having one blue printed. I would rather not wait for or spend the money on a new barrel that can fit the action when I have one on hand already. Between a rock and a hard place here. Leaning more towards just looking in the...

Gunsmithing Convert a 700 long action to 338LM?

As far as I can tell most custom actions are based off of the 700 anyway so I don't really see the reason for aversion from the 700 platform. As far as the walls being thin I haven't personally heard of any real issues with the 338LM blowing up in the chamber, but that's just me. I'll probably...

Gunsmithing Convert a 700 long action to 338LM?

So I have been toying around with the idea of making a light weight 338LM hunting rifle with the parts left over from my custom bench rifle (also 338LM). Most of the custom actions I find out there are around $1,500 and I don't have that kind of money to drop on just one piece to the puzzle. I...

Questions for AR-15 SPR and LW carbine build.

I appreciate the input. I'll check into the accu-wedge, found some on amazon for like $2 a piece so hopefully it'll be a quick fix. I looked at both the optics you mentioned And I'll have to wait till next paycheck for one of those, same with the triggers haha. I was a bit surprised that you...

    New AR-15 Build- Barrel suggestions

Take a look at criterion, I have their 18" hybrid contour barrel in 1:8 twist and I shoot pennies at 100yds. AR-15 They are for sale on brownells, they also have HBAR/hybrid contours for 16-20" barrels all in a 1:8 twist (except the 16", that's a 1:7). They're all between $250-260, so inside...

Questions for AR-15 SPR and LW carbine build.

So like the title suggests I have questions about an SPR and carbine build I have been working on for awhile now. I'll list my current parts list for each of them and follow it up with questions about improvements to make. SPR: DPMS upper/lower receiver criterion 18" hybrid contour...

Hunting & Fishing My first bear!

What you can hunt with varies from county to county here. Closer to New York city is stricter, usually shotgun only or bow/muzzle loader. If you get really far up north near the Canadian border I hear there is sparse elk hunting. Bear and deer are pretty prevalent. Upstate everything is pretty...

Hunting & Fishing My first bear!

Thanks for all the congratulations! I dropped the bear off to get cut up Saturday night, same day I shot it. I plan to have a rug made but the dollar amount is pretty high I think it'll be worth it though, you don't get this chance everyday. The taxidermist wants $850 is that a fair price? Also...

Hunting & Fishing My first bear!

Recently made it back home for the hunting season for the first time in 5 years since I joined the navy. I got permission from my neighbor to hunt on his property. Me and a friend were walking around the logging roads that me and my dad built years ago when we were logging the property (I don't...

    Rem 700 AAC-SD blues

As far as the problem with you're having with the bolt I've had that same problem with two of the four Remington 700s I own. What I found out fixes it is putting in either a chassis/stock with a detachable mag system or installing your own. I installed a surgeon rifles bottom metal that uses AI...

Remington 700 Police 338 Lapua rifles

Yeah I ended up wasting $135 on a nightforce base only to find out it didn't work, probably just save it for that 300 WM build down the road. Better to learn from the mistakes of others though :) . Glad I could offer some useful info.
