    CMP/EIC Service Pistol Parameters

From page 35 of the current CMP rules: A M1911 pistol with a beavertail grip safety may not be used, however, a pistol that has been modified for a beavertail safety may be used if the beavertail safety is replaced with an as-issued grip safety.

Gunsmithing Ream 416 Rem Mag to 416 Ruger?

Thanks for the info! I missed the case OAL dimension, and upon further research, discovered that the 416 Rem Mag requires a "magnum-length action" and that the 416 Ruger only requires a standard-length action. I really don't like the idea of belted magnums ... but am I really barking up the...

Gunsmithing Ream 416 Rem Mag to 416 Ruger?

Doing a quick review of cartridge dimensions, it appears to me that one might have a 416 Rem Mag rifle reamed to 416 Ruger. Is this either possible or advisable? Thanks!

Gunsmithing Building a Win 70 pre 64 rifle...

"The Model 70 action offers Pre-’64 style Controlled Round Feeding..." Just out of curiosity, why are there so many posts (and not just on this board) correcting the usage of "Pre-64" when it doesn't really matter unless someone is trying to pass off a newer rifle as a vintage one? Even...

    Winchester Stealth returns in 2013

26" Can't speak to the contour, but it's a Win/FN Short-Magnum receiver ... so yes, the Stealth is essentially the same rifle as an FN (minus the truing and with a less-nice barrel and less-nice stock).

Can you buy a Blaser stripped action?

Per the members of my shooting club, you migth want to look at starting with a rifle and/or action other than Blaser. There have apparently been several incidences of Blaser bolts detaching from the action during firing and embedding themselves in the jaw of the shooter ... requiring...

    Winchester Stealth returns in 2013

Picked mine up during my visit to CONUS this weekend (sorry, RyeDaddy, no pics yet). Still waiting on the BO mounting hardware and the German paperwork so that I can bring it over. My initial impressions: - Very high quality and even finish (seemed almost like IonBon or Melonite, rather than...

    Winchester Stealth returns in 2013

Thanks, BKennedy! I've been a bit concerned (ordering from Bud's, that is), since they don't have very much information available to provide other than the manufacturer's product number. Your confirmation assuages my biggest concern. I've already rec'd the tracking number and S/N from Bud's...

    Winchester Stealth returns in 2013

Dick D ... thanks for the response. Understood that there's a difference between an action truly made before 1964 and the ones that are made "in the style" of those actions. My other Win70s are "post-64 with pre-64 actions" (ie, they have the newer actions with Mauser-style CRF). Can you...

    Winchester Stealth returns in 2013

Just ordered one from Bud's. Should be able to pick it up over Vets Day Weekend ... sadly, it won't come back to Germany with me for some months. Anything I should know about these? I welcome input on my plans for it: - PTG DBM - BO base and rings - SWFA 10x HD scope Cheers!

    First Custom Bolt gun Build...

Very nice! Very, very nice! I have a Win70 Stealth (MOA/CRF) inbound and have been reading everything related to precision FN/Win70s that I can find. Your rifle has popped up more than once in my reading. A few questions for you, if you don't mind: - Why the Farrell rings/bases...
