    30-06 Long Range Loads

In terms of long range hunting, that would also be my preference, and also in that order. The 208 A-max is awesome! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    30-06 Long Range Loads

I would definitely take the 200gr Sierra Gameking over the 200 NAB. No doubt. Its cheaper, with a better BC (can't believe!), and does very well on game. People here use them in their 300WM's on Gemsbuck to great effect. However I use a 208gr A-max in my own little 22.5" 30-06 and am very...

Resize dimensions for custom FL sizer

Hi Guys. Just wondering what would be the perfect resize dimensions for a custom FL die on a long range 7x57AI? Some folks say 0.0025" resizing on all diameters of the chambering reamer print, others say 0.001" at the base and 0.0005" just below the neck. I am looking to use the FL die...

Will BAT VRPIC eject 30-06 case?

I have one of these actions that will arrive soon. My barrel for the 7mm will only be finished next year, but found a nice .30 cal barrel in rem varmint contour for a 30-06AI to shoot the 200-210 grainers. The original plan was to build the '06 on my Tikka action, but since my planned COAL...

Runout problem with factory spec chamer

Rob, I decided to turn necks in order to achieve a low ES (shooting out to 1000yds lately), theoretically at least. Plus my Lapua cases turned to 0.013" is thicker than unturned Norma brass that I used to have. Runout on fired cases vary between 0.0005" and 0.001". There is maybe one more...

Runout problem with factory spec chamer

QuietShootr, because I decided on 0.013" neck thickness and have already turned half my brass. 0.334" will give my theoretically zero neck tension. Maybe there is some kind of threshold where if you decrease the diameter past a certain point with a specific neck thickness it creates...

Runout problem with factory spec chamer

Yes I made sure the die was set up as good as I know how, with the die touching the shell holder, 1/16" turn back on the decapping rod to allow self centering of the bushing, expander removed, imperial sizing wax used etc. Will try locking the die die with case inserted and see what it does...

Runout problem with factory spec chamer

Hi No1, I did remove the expander. Got my bushing size by subtracting 0.002" from (the calibre (0.308") + 2 X neck thickness (2 X 0.013")), which gave me 0.332" Just tried going from 0.340" to 0.334" and then lastly 0.332". These are the only two bushings I have available currently. The...

Runout problem with factory spec chamer

Hi Guys, Can necking down from 0.340" to 0.332" with a Redding Type-S bushing die cause runout? My fired cases measures 0.340 and when I neck my turned (0.013") lapua brass to 0.332" the runout on the case necks are not good at all. About 0.003" to 0.006". Will sizing incrementally...

    What degree tempilaq for annealing

What degree tempilaq for annealing Thanks! This is what my procedure looks like now with 482 deg F tempilstic. I'm still practicing on old brass. What you said about the lapua brass is very true. You'll ruin the case. And I also find that not all types of cases produce the same color...

Question regarding full value wind on elevation

Question regarding full value wind on elevation I was wrong. It does actually maintain the 3/8MOA angle of deflection throughout. Y = 0.01SG - 0.0024L + 0.032 Where Y = vertical deflection in MOA/mph full value crosswind SG = gyroscopic stability factor L = bullet length in calibres...

    What degree tempilaq for annealing

What degree tempilaq for annealing So I guess if one only needs a darkened room I'm covered then? :) :) Would you care to enlighten us on how you judge the correct amount of annealing? What color does the brass have to be before you stop? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    What degree tempilaq for annealing

What degree tempilaq for annealing Thanks Damon and Deadshot!! Good info!! It's funny how some people who try to scare one away from annealing your own brass are usually brass retailers or guys who offer annealing services. Once you tried it for yourself, it's much easier than you...

I seriously doubt it. I think the effect is counter intuitive, being more pronounced at shorter ranges? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Annealing. Am I doing it right?

Annealing. Am I doing it right? Sorry I see my post has been duplicated. I think the picture is misleading. The cases were not cleaned and the dry neck lubricant also gives it a dark color. I'll try to post a pic of a cleaned case. I also got a better, thinner flame that will do the...

Annealing. Am I doing it right?

Just started annealing Norma brass. Hope to get 30 firings out of them if I anneal after every third firing. Here is a clip showing my procedure. I'm using 482 deg F Tempilstick. I have a feeling that I can anneal it a bit more. But how would I know? What are the symptoms of over and...
