Suppressors How much time between error letter and stamp?

I hope it works out like you hope. It used to mean you were basically done with the approval if you got one back for a correction. Usually you would get it back pretty quick with the stamp after you completed the corrections, but apparently that is no longer something you can count on. I got...

Suppressors How much time between error letter and stamp?

Over-all turn around time on my my most recent one turned out to be about 10 months plus the time for the error correction going back and forth in the mail. I sent mine in in late Feb. 2013 and just got the stamp today. May the force be with you...but if it hasn't been 10-11 months over-all, I...

Snipershide 2013 white elephant gift exchange

Ouch! that kinda takes most of the Christmas cheer right out of that deal doesn't it? I'll have to check around and see if I can find some closer to home.

Snipershide 2013 white elephant gift exchange

Any idea how much the haz-mat fee is to ship those? I might be interested in paying the haz-mat if you want to ship them.....I was just reading a recommendation last night to use magnum primers to work up subsonic loads. I can certainly cough up some stuff to add to the fun, but I am running...

Suppressors How does my monocore look? .22LR

Also.....you would be better off if your blast chamber didn't funnel all the gas directly to the bore, make the front of it more chevron shaped so it conforms to the back side of the first chamber. Give the gas somewhere to go that allows it to get ahead of the bore opening so it has to travel...

Suppressors How does my monocore look? .22LR

The design you started out with will work well if you increase the length of your monocore and do a built in suppressor. You might need to go to an 18" OAL on the barrel and use a 7-8" barrel with a 10" monocore. Since you have the ability to create more complex forms, you could create a more...

    Suppressors Form 4 wait time

My form 1 went in late Feb. 2013.....still not back, but hopefully any day now.

Rifle Scopes Bushnell BTR-MIL - VS - Vortex EBR-1 illumination

So is yours a new one? I will be curious to hear if yours is center illuminated with some bleed over to the crosshairs, or if the crosshairs are properly illuminated. I have a feeling the full illumination may be a myth. The center circle and dot on mine comes on, and are visible in low light...

Rifle Scopes Burris scope with oddball feature. Gimmick or functional ?

The idea is to cut down on glare in bright situations when you have more then enough light. I used to have a 6-24 Burris Sign. that had an iris on it. Looking through it in your situation with snow and sunshine there is probably so much light you wouldn't be able to tell much difference...

Rifle Scopes Bushnell BTR-MIL - VS - Vortex EBR-1 illumination

Just got the scope today and I don't know if there is a lot of point in posting pictures. The illumination looks pretty much like the other thread that had pictures of the illuminated reticle. It appears to me that they never intended for the mil scale to be illuminated.....it's more just a...

Rifle Scopes 2014 Vortex New Products Announced

That is about the way my luck goes!.....the week after I buy a scope everyone starts advertising all the new models

Gunsmithing is anyone making barrels for a handy rifle?

Depending on the model and serial number, H&R will fit new barrels to your action. Their website has the info on which actions they will fit new barrels to, and the caliber options. I don't think they do custom requests, but 22-250 might be one of the options, don't know. I don't think a...

Rifle Scopes Longer Range MIL Reticles

I have been planning on doing this with my 458 Socom project to help cope with the extreme drop with subsonics.....just got to wondering, will it introduce any significant problems using the reference points out closer to the edges of the field of view.....such as parallax issues, or is it...

Rifle Scopes Bushnell BTR-MIL - VS - Vortex EBR-1 illumination

I have a deal in the works to purchase an illuminated BTR-MIL version from a member here. There is an obvious void of info on this reticle, so my intention is to try and get some good quality photos taken and posted so anyone else who is considering this scope will have a little more to go on...

Rifle Scopes Bushnell BTR-MIL - VS - Vortex EBR-1 illumination

Looking at the Vortex PST 2.5-10x32 FFP VS the Bushnell T.E. 3-12x44 FFP illum. brt-mil I need opinions on how the illumination compares on these two scopes for low light shooting. The Vortex seems to be accepted as very nice illumination, but the Bushnell seems to be in question. I like...

Rifle Scopes Need input choosing a mid-range FFP scope for 458 Socom

The black Friday deals on SWFA are killing me.....$450 for the 3x9 is cheap enough I am considering trying no illumination.....and looking into a used rangefinder. I know the reticle can be used for ranging.....so I should try that first I guess. I'm going to go out on the prowl today and see...

Rifle Scopes Need input choosing a mid-range FFP scope for 458 Socom

One reason for using a middle of the road power setting would be to increase low light performance if the highest setting wasn't getting it done. I was leaning towards the ffp3-12 illum. btr-mil, but Bushnell has done a really piss-poor job of showing what the reticle looks like illuminated as...

Rifle Scopes Need input choosing a mid-range FFP scope for 458 Socom

Any guesses how much angle I might need on the base to not use up my adjustment? I will be custom making the base so I thought I would start out by setting the angle of the base so that the top of the reticle was bore sighted to the rifle with the scope adjustments all centered.....probably...

Rifle Scopes Need input choosing a mid-range FFP scope for 458 Socom

I guess it depends on your point of view. It looks to me like if I "zero" the center at 150 yards that would put the next to the top mark on at about 44 yards and the bottom mark at about 350. Or I would suppose I could start by trying to zero the top mark at 50 yards and let it go form there...

Rifle Scopes Need input choosing a mid-range FFP scope for 458 Socom

The idea is to zero at 150 yards....with 500 grn subs that should get me to 350 yards at the bottom mark on a Mil-quad reticle, the second mark from the top of the reticle is showing about 44 yards (this is all theoretical on a ballistics program at this point) It should be about 125" drop...
