    What that guy said - a 3-12 x 42 S&B with the P3L is near enough to perfect for me. I've got one on my 280 (x 42) and another on the 6mm204 (x 50). The only thing to check is the distance between the bells is shorter on the x 50, so it may not fit on a long action if you aren't using a Pic rail...
