My normal cleaning regiment is 5 passes with nylon soaked brush 3 wet patches 3 dry pathes On a brand new factory barreled rifle should I worry about running a nylon brush in first with the possibility of who knows what in the bore? Would it be better to just start with patches?
Its a 16" barrel 1 in 9 twist with a 556 chamber. Brass was twice fired range pic ups. I didn't notice any difference in recoil and the velocity was slower than 55 grain pmc.
I went to load up some light plinking loads so I took the published starting load from hodgdons web site of 25 grains of varget with a 60 grain hornady sp bullet. I loaded up 5 and took a box of 55 gr pmc. shoot both through a chronograph. pmc averaged 2750fps and the hand loads averaged 2650...
