    Rifle...what to do next??

Thanks to all for the advice. I am putting my $$ in a 5-hour private instruction class with a local instructor. I was going to get a bipod, but I have a ruck and other things I can use for stability when I am prone, and I think I need to work on "me" before I work on the rifle.

I do not, but def in my future.

    Rifle...what to do next??

That sounds like wisdom; thanks for the advice. I would love to reload, but just not in the cards (well, budget) right now. Thank's for the welcome... I love my Marines, and they took care of me, too.

    Rifle...what to do next??

I'm out now, but I can probably score one of the manuals. It would def be a good reference.

    Rifle...what to do next??

I have a Super Sniper; I have a little money, not nearly enough for a new/better optic.

    Rifle...what to do next??

Thanks for the gouge, Senior (I am former HM2 FMF, drank the kool-aid, got my commission).

    Rifle...what to do next??

I have a Rem 700 SPS tac, and as I am a novice precision bolt shooter, I am happy with what it can do (though far less happy about what I can do with it). I have a tad bit of money I can add to it, not sure what to do. It has stock trigger/threaded barrel, EGW base, Burrix XTR rings, SS 10x...

    Accuracy Systems Rem 7400

I know the Remington 7400 does not have a good rep. That said, one built by Accuracy Systems, is it any "better" or worth the purchase?

    Newbie looking for rifle

I am by no means a SME, and I am still in the early stages of crawling in the crawl-walk-run method of progression. I used the intro rifle package over at sniper central as a guide. For me it is recreational, I do not compete, and I am not a sniper, so I am happy with what I have...for now...

    Which upgrade first??

Update: ordered the Bushnell 10x mil-dot scope today; got it for a song. Next up: new trigger. I think I am on my way. Thanks to all for the replies.

    Which upgrade first??

Maybe 1.5" at 100 yards, a bit over 2" at 200 yards. Incidently the scope I am looking at is the Bushnell Elite 10x.

    Which upgrade first??

For what I shoot now, the scope isn't THAT bad. I read you, though, and do plan on some training.

    Which upgrade first??

The Rem is on a B&C M40 stock, so I am good there. The scope is a cheap BSA mil dot that was given to me. So there.

    Which upgrade first??

Thanks for the opinion. I will save myself the embarrassment of telling you what scope...suffice it to say, once I leave 200 yards I will need a new one.

    Which upgrade first??

I have a Rem 700 SPS Tac with the original Rem trigger (x-mark). I have a marginal scope which is fine for the distances I shoot now (a couple hundred yards). I have some money to upgrade one now, but not the other, so where should I spend it: a Timney trigger, or a new scope (as I start to...

    Rem 700 with some work...

Good morning, SMEs....I have an opportunity to trade for a Remington 700. I was told it had some "work" done to it at Johnson's Precision Gunsmithing (http://www.jpgrifles.com); this is what he had done from the body of the text: "It has the factory hogue stock. The trigger was stoned and...

    Savage 10p-SR

I know the stock on Rem is often lacking (when not the HS Precision, etc). The Savage is a regular stock, not an "accustock" (for whatever that means). Are there any issues with the regular stock?

    Savage 10p-SR

I have an opportunity to get a Savage 10P-SR at a ridiculous price. I know Remington OK, I know nothing about Savage. What's the downside of this rifle? Stock may need replacing? I would use it for precision shooting out to 500-750 yards.

What do I need to do next?

Thanks for the advice. I see a trend. I do belong to a range; unfortunately, it's only 100 yards. I do have access to longer ranges...now to find someone to coach me. As for smartphone aps, what's a 'smartphone?' :) I am ambivilent about a bipod...I have shot using a ruck for support...
