    Wyatt's Detachable Magazine Assemblies

I'm pretty sure the spacers were included, but I sold mine when I sold the mag setup and bell and Carlson stock years ago. I don't think my setup required the spacers though.

    Wyatt's Detachable Magazine Assemblies

Before dropping my 700 in an AICS, I used a Wyatts detachable magazine setup in a Bell and Carlson stock. It was a drop in fit and in my case, required zero work to get it feeding correctly. My only criticism is with the 223 magazine, the rounds would tend to nose down when loading as the...

Anyone else pick up a 5R Recently

I deprime all of my brass using a Lee universal depriming die before wet tumbling with SS pins. Then it depends on where the brass came from: Once fired military brass and brass out of my M1A get small base sized with a standard RCBS small base sizing die. Brass out of the 700 5R is reloaded...

I reload all of my precision ammo on a good old RCBS Rock Chucker IV single stage press. No need to spend tons of money on a press to get great results.

You can't go wrong with a badger, seekins or nightforce base. All are quality, but I prefer the steel of the badger or nightforce vs seekins aluminum.

I haven't shot the Sierra 168's but the Hornady 168's faired pretty well. I bought a 500 count box of the 175's so I'll be using those for a bit.

Anyone else pick up a 5R Recently

I picked up a 5R in 308 with the 20" barrel back in January. Added a Timney 510 trigger, Nightforce 20 MOA base, Gen 1 Vortex Viper 6x24 PST FFP in Vortex Rings and dropped it all into my Gen 1 AICS chassis. First range trip it delivered a .53 MOA group at its best with my FGMM 175 clone load...

    Remington VTR .308

You could always sell the scope but keep the rifle and rebarrel with a premium one. Barrels are consumable items and on a .308 you get a lot of life from one.

    Gunsmithing Remington 700 adl

Remington 700 adl As far as aftermarket bottom metals go, think about what you want first: do you want a chassis system (like the AICS) or a more traditional stock like a McMillan? Personally, I went with the AICS and love it. Also just like EasyGravy I started with an ADL also. Another...

Gunsmithing Best 700 trigger for field and range?

I put a Timney 510 on my R700 instead of sending it back to Remington. Ordered direct from Timney just prior to the recall and spec'd it to break at 2.5 pounds. Every time I let someone else shoot the rifle they look at me after the first round and say "damn, that's a smooth trigger".

Need a new reloading kit! Everything for extreme LRS!

Need a new reloading kit! Everything for extreme LRS! Having just gone through all this I agree with the above, start with a good reloading manual and read it. Then, when you think you know what you are doing, read it again. I missed a few things the first time around. I ended up going...

    AR tight throat, need help!

Glad they fixed it for you and took care of you as well.

Ready to shoot my rifle for the first time.

I would shoot the cheaper ammo to get you on paper and then dial in your zero with your ammo you intend to shoot.

    Short stroking semi auto .308

That's the exact reason why it is adjustable. I have the SR-556 and if it won't cycle on gas setting 2 then I open it up to 3. Some ammo will cycle on setting 1. The idea is not to use any more gas than is necessary to make the action cycle.

    AR tight throat, need help!

Your rifle doesn't have a tight throat, it has a short throat. What is happening is that the bullet is engaging the rifling upon chambering; which is causing the marks on the bullet and the three instances of the bullet being pulled from the case neck. I would check the COAL of your hand loads...

Dad needs a new multi purpose rifle.

Without knowing what ranges you are talking about I'm hesitant to suggest a cartridge but what about the .300 Blackout? Still uses a standard AR15 bolt, magazines, etc. All you need is a barrel. If not that, id go with the earlier 260 suggestion.

Remington 700 ADL SA stock and detachable mags ideas??

For the money, the bell and carlson stocks are a good value and work with some drop in kits available from stockys. However, much to Boxcars point I would try to get behind any stock your thinking about purchasing. I love the Accuracy International Chassis System but it's not everyone's...

Gunsmithing Light Primer strikes after Timney install on R700

Certain Model 700's require a longer sear on the trigger. For the life of me I can't recall which ones right now but the information is out there even on this forum.

Gunsmithing A question on supply and demand

Your thinking about this from the consumer side understandably; from a business owners perspective you have to think about all the costs involved with doing what you are asking. Increasing production levels means increasing the bodies doing the machining, potentially purchasing additional...
