Too deep is more of a pistol concern. Generally, too long is the rifle concern. Contacting the lands tends to lead to pressure spikes.
If you’re getting hard bolt lift, 88 grains of Retumbo with a 300 grain bullet is borderline in your rifle.
I got a chance to shoot another rifle and three different loads. I get the occasional sub-moa load, but most groups average between 1.25-1.5 moa. The PSA is a lot of performance for the money.
Is there a thread where people show the types of groups they are getting with gun and ammo/load information? If not, there should be.
Please post them.
I was able to compare a couple loads in a couple uppers with different barrel lengths.
20” Odin Works barrel
Avg: 2474; sd: 14.9
Load1: 30.2 CFE 223 and 100 ELD-VT
Avg: 2403; sd: 17.2
Load2: 27.0 AR Comp and 123 SMK
24” Lilja barrel
Avg: 2526; sd: 23.4
Load1: 30.2 CFE 223 and 100 ELD-VT...
These bullets have been out a while. Hopefully some guys here can share the loads the have worked well.
Bolt/Gas
Cartridge
Powder
Charge
Velocity
ES/SD
All of the usual guidelines apply. Every gun is different. Start low, and work up. Et cetera.
Thanks in advance.
@45-90,
I see the one recipe. Can you share some more data and groups? Are you using any special upgrades to your 308? That’s pretty incredible performance.
This is a great thread.
