You're another one who would be absolutely shocked if you rode a new (post 2016 or so) bike. If you're still riding on 2.2" tires, almost anything new, at any price point, will be a revelation to you.
It's pretty great. I've done it twice, once on a hardtail and once on my Evil with my wife on our honeymoon. Be prepared for a whole day of pedaling uphill at altitude.
I hope to make it back there in May; it's great if you like flow trails. I'm currently rehabbing a knee injury and looking forward to being able to shred the gnar again. The trails I'm familiar with in Colorado generally do not allow motor vehicles; the exception I can think of is the first...
I'm 40 years old and I love 1911s. I tried everything else there was before that and other than my J frames, my primary handguns are 1911s. I wish someone would make something in a modern design with the ergonomics of a 1911, but to date no such handgun exists so I'm going to continue shooting...
My first 1911 was a Kimber and I've had it for nearly 20 years. It's also probably the last handgun I'd ever let go of. I know what the internet has to say about them, but that has not been my experience at all. It has shot over 40,000 rounds. If it fell apart tomorrow, I got my money's worth.
I have put more rounds through my STI 9mm than most people have fired through all their guns combined on this website in a lifetime. Mine had to have the barrel replaced because it wasn't fit correctly. I then had to send it back again because the second barrel didn't fit very well either...
There are 12 bikes in my household between my wife and I. The closest thing I have to a cross country bike is a Surly Karate Monkey. My main mountain bike is an Evil Insurgent LB, it's probably posted on this forum somewhere. I don't think it's the end-all and be-all, but I stand behind my...
I disagree with basically every claim in this post. A 2011 is not a 1911 so single stack versus double stack does not enter the consideration unless he's shopping for one. 9mm 1911s are finicky. They are not for most people. They are for people willing to handload and to experiment with...
I was suggesting that you visit a bike park not to become a DH park rat but rather so that you'd value that help you enjoy the downhill as much as the up. I do endurance sports too. I'm an randonneur. I think you're riding what you ride because you've bought too much into the marketing of...
A mountain bike that weighs 21 pounds is just a glorified gravel bike. I think you're really missing out on what an actual trail mountain bike has to offer by weight-weenieing. I would not want to ride the Whole-E on anything that is 21 pounds. In fact, I wouldn't want to ride anything that I...
I couldn't disagree more strongly with this comment. A bike without a dropper post is not a mountain bike in the year 2024. 30 years ago, I'm sure the trails looked very different when you were on road bike geometry and 2" wide tires. It would be suicide to ride modern trails on a bike like...
The Production Division was intentionally made restrictive to add challenge to the game. USPSA is not training for a concealed carry situation, it's a game where you're drag racing with a gun. Once the restrictions that made Production unique were eliminated, it became limited-10 minor, which...
Limited was, for the vast majority of USPSA history, the most popular division. We still have L-10 and Revolver, but in those days where they were kept past their usefulness, dots were not allowed outside of Open. Now that the board has decided that all they care to encourage is open and open...
I have two Onyx hubs and they are really great. If I build a wheelset, that's what I use. Absolutely not. If you have a mountain bike with any front derailleur, you should really try a new mountain bike of any brand. You will be shocked at how much technology has changed. I have at least...
Production division is dead anyway, as is Limited. I don't think anyone cares what someone does in those divisions and they'll be gone from the sport soon.
I found those to be wobbly and I have not used them since. The hand tool can do thousands of cases over a few nights after work, so I've just never seen the need for a powered trimmer. I do have every tool in that picture though, besides what they are calling the "decapper and base" and...
Hand primer is good. Get yourself an electronic scale that will do .1 g and a powder dispenser like the RCBS Chargemaster. I use a Lyman that is similar and slower but only because it's what I have had forever. A lee hand trimmer is like 10 bucks and I have one for every rifle cartridge, as...
