Night Vision Thermal and night vision...am I on the correct path?

Well, in part depends on what "the gap" is. Armasight came out with the Q-14 (breach gen1) in summer 2016, followed in fall 2016 by the ir-patrol. Both were clipon capable head mountable thermals. The breach might be the most "popular" in terms of total sales, basically a q-14 with a...

Night Vision Thermal and night vision...am I on the correct path?

FYI. the only 2 dual-purpose HMT/clipon thermals that really seem to get close to the goal of doing both are the RH25 and the Voodoo-S. With the voodoo-S being a better clipon, but at about 3 times the price (for a military grade unit). As to the sidekick, I think that about sums it up ...

Night Vision Thermal and night vision...am I on the correct path?

14 and nox18 good general choices. Nox18 can go on a wpn as a TWS (not a clipon) and get out to 300yds on yotes (on 4x digital). Next step up pixels on target voodoo-s which doubles as a good clipon.

    Thermal Scope vs Clip on

The primary benefit of thermal clipons is for longer distances, being able to use your day scope reticle. If you are shooting critters under 300yds, a thermal weapons sight (TWS) is a much cheaper option. Long distance thermal clipons (LDTC) that we can buy and that are highly collimated...

    Range finder for thermal

Your unit is a Zeus Pro and those rangefinders were designed to work with the Pro Line. But AFAIK they stopped making those range finders in 2016ish so 8ish years ago. I know a total of 2 people who had them and stefan73 was one of them. So, bottom line it might be a looong wait before...

    Leupold MK5 HD 2-10 vs MK4 HD 2.5-10

This has been discussed before and the consensus was NO. I had 4 different 2 or 2.5 to 8 or 10 a few years ago. Two of them had adjustable parallax and 2 did not ... for instance the NF NXS 2.5-10x SFP did have parallax knob. But I learned it was unnecessary for 100yds plus. If one...

    Leupold MK5 HD 2-10 vs MK4 HD 2.5-10

One spec that differentiates, the 2.5-10 has a dialing range of 24.7 MILs ... whereas the 2-10x has 48 MILs ... almost double !!

2024 Night Vision and Thermal Advice

As to helmet, either Ops Core or Team Wendy are fine. The TW do have non standard side rails, so you'll have to account for that. The only stuff I mount on the side rails these days are comms headsets, though there are workarounds for that - so its not really an issue. There are...

2024 Night Vision and Thermal Advice

I bought my first NV in Apr 2013 and have spent an avg 10 hrs per week outside since. I had a $20k budget at that point and thought that would be enough for a one time "splurge" and I'd never need anything else (oh boy - was I wong ! :D ) I now realize getting into learning about and owning and...

Night Vision Now @ SOK: Guide Sensmart Thermals

I've spent several nights out with a couple of these in different conditions and settings. They seem to be a great fit as low cost units, with usable 384 units being under $2k and usable 640s under $3k. The manual focus helps a lot. I've used them as handheld and tripod mounted scanners...

    New 2024 MPVO Options

FYI, I do NOT mean the same thing :) I specifically use the word "parallax" to mean "removing parallax by adjusting the parallax knob" while moving my head back and forth (usually left to right in my case) to judge whether the reticle and target are in the same distance plane. I've had...

If you got rid of a Leupold MK5 5-25x-56, why did you do so?

Why ? It had a pronounced "fish eye" effect - I was quite surprised ! I had an early one, maybe it was a lemon ? == == NF Atacr 7-35x F1 For a big heavy scope, it was great. I shot with it mostly on 7x to 15x but used the higher magnifications for spotting and seeing the mirage...
