New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

They probably don't want the onslaught of emails asking about them despite any blatant sold sign or deletion of a buy button they would put on the links. Makes it like bigfoot sightings. You hear the frantic claims of witnesses, maybe see a grainy photo and hear Leonard Nimoy announcing "In...

Actually I've never hit that mail button before that I can remember. I'll have to look. I may have a lot of apologies to make for ignoring that button.

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

As usual, I never saw a thing but at least I don't have to go through the "I had one in my cart...." 😏 Someone should have the pictures up on here this afternoon sometime. That's always interesting to view.

True, any number they decide to. I just have fun with what-ifs in a countdown production format.

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

When I pictured more runs I thought of 40, 30, 20 and 10 for 150 total and done.

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

If this run of smears is going to stay unique from any following runs/production, the winner will still have a limited item so easily may not care. That one idea could be cool. Make your own smear. It would be very personal in that respect. The beginnings of a future family heirloom.

M40 scope base project by LRI

He's waiting on a pic-a-nic basket full of fresh finished mounts. Bear-ly containing himself.

So likely 10 or less like that. If that group was split between two machines then no more than 5 likely. The unique histories continue even with new production.

So you got an extra special oopsmear. You'll have to build it with the bigger lug to keep it's uniqueness. Wonder how few oopsmears are in people's hands?

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

Those stickers are neat but the rifles and stocks represented weren't around in '73. 🤓 Would have been cooler with crossed m40a1 with 1973 on one side and 2023 on the other. Even better, as a challenge coin. That could be a project for LRI.

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

Wow, it was still two hundred something the last I saw. I kinda hoped it'd stay that way till the end. I'd join and snatch it up for 300. lol Another dream snatched away by reality.

You gave them the JJ Abrams lens flare for effect. I have no Idea what they are.

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

Think I'm looking at that one now. Its got an extra uncle mikes added for a harris bipod. It has a interesting fill. I've seen a couple with that sorta fudge swirl look. Don't know what that indicates for age or time period of manufacture. It's a darker green base for the forrest pattern...

I wouldn't say shady but definitely trying to draw as many eyes as possible. That's like many auctions will put firearm names or brand names that aren't what is being auctioned in the title/description so that they pop up in as many searches as possible.

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

That auction title is a bit misleading but they do say its a reproduction down in the description. Simple and straightforward would have been to just say, Reproduction M40A1 smear stock by McMillan. Looks like #008

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

Ah, ok. If the actions ever become available you'll have to watch for 4306. Then you put it back in this stock and make 4321 the repro smear's number?
  18. O

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

Hmm, The first pic has 4306 and 4321 stamped but (electro penciled?) 4309. To me I was seeing it as an 8 but what if it was a 6 and then penciled over a 9 giving it the 8-ish look to me. Maybe a dyslexic moment? Originally penciled 4309 but meant to be 6 so tried to pencil 6 over it...

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

The unique history continues. I thought they stayed with whatever action they were married to until being broken or replaced for A3, A5 etc. Now we need the old actions released since they've gone to the larger actions now. I think we only have one more release till the new smears are done...
