    I body size, then dip into imperial with the balls, then mandrel, then trim chamfer and deburr. Before seating, I will dip them again. This is the process that I’ve found works best for me to get best accuracy and lowest SD’s. This process eliminates flyers from optimized loads. -ZA

    What's the Go-To 223 Brass Now?

    IME, with good match prep and annealing, LC, PMC & Winchester are all GTG. LC and PMC are basically interchangable. Winchester does really well, but may need a slight tweak to the powder charge that LC & PMC prefer.

    I'm sending 77 TMK's out of a 20" Bartlein AR at 2830 fps with N540 and SD's around 9 (LC brass) with almost no pressure signs... N540 can get easily get higher velocities than Varget across the board. It can also push 69 TMK's over 3000 fps with no pressure signs in the same rifle.

    LOL.... so I wound up getting 3 jugs (24 lbs) of N540 over the winter and spring (great sales) because I was sure it was going to work.... Yesterday, I bought 16 lbs of XBR8208 because I found it in stock.... I have powder hoarding problems.

    I wound up finding a pretty hot load with N540, LC brass and Rem 7.5 primers that shoots pretty well. I've got to shoot it a couple more times and in a couple of my other rifles before I declare it the "winner" of this quest. Velocity is 2830 fps out of my 20" Bartlein barrel with light pressure...
