They can cut taxes to zero and you are still going to pay. They will usher in a sales tax to include a luxury tax. Along with the inflationary tax from deficit spending.

If taxes go to zero, you will still be losing because they will print more debt and devalue what you’re making. We are payIng “tax” in a bunch of ways besides personal income tax. They will always give us a carrot to pass the pork that they want.
Agreed, again. But I think that's a more longer term problem to resolve. You're only going to solve the spending problem by electing officials that won't tax and spend and know how to live within their means. Or, get them to agree to legislation that limits spending (lot's of luck with that).
Meanwhile, we have a much more immediate/short term problem that affects us all, directly. If this bill isn't done, we pay 68% more in taxes. I can't afford that. It would put me under, financially. I want those tax cuts to be permanent by hook or by crook.
Like I say, that's a different problem. Eliminating the "mindset" that the govt. can just tax everyone into oblivion so they can spend what they want... That's not going to change until we change the people in office. We need more people who won't have that tax and spend mindset.
Voting, (well,... depending on how you vote) will never change things based upon what the system has morphed into.

I think in that case, they will miss the 07/04 deadline because both Houses have to re-vote on what the conference committee proposes.
I don't think they want to do that. They want to go home for the Holidays.

House has passed its version. Senate has passed its version and sent it back to the House. The House can vote on the Senate's version and, if passed, it goes to Pres. Trump. Otherwise, they go to conference committee. That will delay things way beyond the July 4th deadline, it's thought. This, because both Houses would have to vote on the conference committee's results before it can go to the WH.

It does not say a state can't make them outright illegal.
But it does force the states in the gray zone to either pony up and make them legal or illegal. The prohibited with defense against prosecution is neutered since there is no registration.
