H.R. 8: Proposes to end "background check loophole", requiring federal background checks for ALL gun sales, including private gun marketplace / FTF sales as well as gun shows.

H.R. 1446: AKA "Enhanced Background Check Act of 2021", seeks to close the so-called "Charleston loophole", where a firearm must be transferred to an individual from an FFL if there is no denial from the background check system after 3 days, even if the NICS system does not respond. Under H.R. 1446, firearms purchasers can be denied sales INDEFINITELY if the NICS is unable to provide a result, either due to network outages, or malicious acts from within the system. The potential for this to be weaponized against 'undesirable' individuals based on their political beliefs or online history is certain.
