Rem 700 1 piece base and rings for 34mm tube. I found a wheeler mount. Any experience? Wanted a nightforce but as far as i can tell they dont make 34mm. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Just figured since the remington does not have an integrated rail it would be one less part to worry about shifting or loosening. Feel free to correct me if im wrong

I've had several DNZ mounts, they're good. That being said I now have Picitany rails on everything. If you want to move scopes between guns makes it really slick and quick.

I used a DNZ one piece on my Ruger and took it off. It seems I'm always experimenting with different scopes, heights, rifles etc etc and removing scopes and mounts is a PAIN for a mount that requires the ring halves to come off, then the scope, then the mount... every. single. time.
I ditched the once piecers and went for a loctited picatinny rail on all my rifles, and now I can switch things out when I need with either a flip of a lever or two 12mm or so socket heads. Much easier and faster.

If you want a solid bomb proof setup for a 700, the best way to go is to have LRI or someone drill your base holes to 8-40, clip slot your action and install their pic rail on your action and it will never move again. If you don't want that set up the next best thing is to have the holes enlarged to 8-40, bed in a steel pic rail, thread lock the screws and use steel rings to mount the scope. Third best way would be to do the same thing as the 2nd way but retain the 6-40 screws. Most of the time though the scope will be damaged from the knock/bump before the rings or base fails.

They say that one piece scope mount rails kind of "lock in" or "stiffen" the action by having once more piece connecting the front and rear action rings together but I think that's old lore because I remember the scope mounts on our M24 rifles going to 2 piece from the 1 piece and it having no effects on group size consistency.

Still 4 screws that can loosen. If you install a Picatinny base correctly and use some loctite then you won’t have to worry about it loosening. The base on my 700 hasn’t been off since around 2006 and has never loosened.

Also as mentioned if you wanted to take the scope off for some reason or move it to another rifle then you have to take the whole thing apart and remount it.

One piece set ups are one of those ideas that sound great but aren’t as good as they sound in actual use. Get a good base and rings and mount them properly and you will be fine.

If you want to move scope to anther rifle Just leave the scope in the rings, don't undo /loosen scope rings. Loosen the screws holding the rings to the Picitany only, move it to another picitany, no re- leveling, no moving scope in rings.
You can literally move it from one to another in 5-10 minutes easy. Have to re zero of course but usually it's not real far off.

That is for rings and base. I was saying for a one piece set up that it is not that easy.

I have a personal experience with the NF setup, I had the same thought process as you. But it was a PITA when it came to adjustments for scope eve relief. And mine didn't fit the receiver properly which resulted in a canted base. Go with the two piece system and Loctite.
