Starting to look for a scope that I can use out to about 500 yards at most without draining my wallet for an M1A in a troy chassis. Anyone have any thoughts on the Falcon 1 X 4?

No experience with Falcon. I was in the same boat and went with the Trijicon Accupoint TR24G Fiber optics for the daytime and Tritium at night

I have had excellent results with the Leupold 1.5-5 model.
Light and lo-profile with clear optics.
have several on hunting rigs and one on a light 'tactical' build.

Take a look at the Leatherwood CMR 1-4x...I have one on my RFB...you can do hold over for 168gr bullets...it's on at 200 yards...I plan on taking it to 300 yards on Friday (300 is the longest my range goes).
I also own a Trijicon TR21 as well.
The CMR is a lot of optic for $250 since you get hold over and it's also illuminated.
