For a $1000 Tripod Budget, I'm basically looking at the new Rocky Mountain Vector Tripod, or I'm considering getting some Chinese Carbon Tripod like 2Vets/PVA Comp-40 and then a RRS Anvil 30 Head.
I played with an Anvil 30 today for the first time, but it was only for the spotting scope, so I haven't had much field practice. I haven't shot enough off different tripods to really know all the ins and outs, and reading these monstrous tripod threads has me pretty confused.
For example, without really using one of these bicycle looking handlebar torque tripods, I just don't know if I like that more than the RRS Anvil 30 clamp for doing the right amount of friction for keeping the rifle in place. I've mainly so far been doing tripod stages as a back support, not having to use it much to put the tripod.
I don't want to be in the world of upgrading over and over, so I want to buy once cry once kind of state, but the RRS Package of $1400 is $400 too much for what I've budgetted.
