10mm loads?

Here's my notes on my 10mm. I have a govt Nighthawk Predator 1911, and wouldn't shoot these out of a cheap 1911 or plastic gun.

I've loaded up to 12 grains of Blue Dot under 180 XTPs and 180 ball. It's kind of hot so I have backed it down to 11 grains, and that seems to be a pretty accurate load that is still fairly warm. I believe they are doing about 1300 at the muzzle.
This is for a new model Delta Elite.

12 grains of blue dot. Wow! I hope you wear eye protection.

Blue dot is a disappointment in 10mm. All bark and no bite.

It flashes, it booms, it recoils...but the velocity just isn't there.

Try 800x. I'm telling you...

You mean SUNGLASSES!

That stuff flashes brighter than a nuclear explosion!

It also straight up eats the plastic of your powder measure.

Lastly: do a bunch of test-throws with the 800x, as it doesn't meter "great". not Varget/H4350 bad, but not as well as many pistol powders do. I should have mentioned this earlier... You can't trust the powder measure for MAX loads, because there is too much variance. However, if you set the measure ~.2gr under max, you'll be fine. Normally not an issue because most people don't shoot FULL POWER 10mm ammo in "volume".

I should have added that the swamp fox load requires a higher spring if you shoot it or any max load a lot. If you just shoot a dozen or so you will be fine with what you got.

Yes... Blue dot will definately scare them before the bullet impacts them lol. The guy next to you in the range will probably shit his pants on the first round fired.

If you guys like shooting the 10mm you should try out the 50gi. It's my favorite round and EDC.

power pistol is a good choice, not as much velocity as blue dot or 800x(which i have never tried for some reason?)but it gave very respectable
speed. and i don't think you can make a inaccurate load for a 610.
i have pushed 135 in the range of 1700 out of my 6'' 610,so 1500 with 155 should be doable but it may beat up a 1911.
if you can find some old stock of WAP (winchester action pistol)your search will be over that stuff flat worked!
be safe and remember 1911 10mm's are on borrowed time when you start running hot loads.
