I am trying to ditch the factory "tri rail" that came stock from factory on my Savage. I purchased a EGW 20 MOA elevated rail. After I removed the factory rail I noticed immeadiately that the the EGW rail screws are smaller than the orignal screws. The original screws are to big to insert in new rail.......

Should I try and take the new rail to someone and drill the holes out to match the original screws? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 110BA rail removal

You got yourself an old style savage base where the rear was flat. Also most all savages are 6-40 screws but the 110ba are 8-40.

Do yourself a favor and ditch that base as well. Call Cameron Murphy at www.murphyprecision.com and he will make you a FAR better base, any MOA you want. If its a 338lm, 20moa is just pointless IMO unless you have very little travel in your scope. Go 40moa.

Re: 110BA rail removal

Ken Farrell is making bases for the 110 BA, with 8-40 screws, in any elevation (or lack thereof) you want, up to 60 MOA. They're $117 apiece plus shipping, IIRC. I'm putting a 40MOA on my 110BA as soon as I can afford the scope (whole stupid cart and horse thing). He also does amazingly smooth scope rings, and no, I don't work for him
