i have been reading a few posts where guys are just flat somking a 115 or a 107 grain bullet out of a 243, how is it possible to get that type of velocity out of a 243??? im shooting a 6mm ackley but i would go back to a 243 if this is correct anyone got any expertise on this subject?

rm1981,

N-560 with WLR or Remington E-TronX primers in a 28-30" barrel will get you there. I use moly on my bullets, but that is up to you. Sort by ogive length and meplat trim to get best accuracy. Requires 1/8" twist barrel. Barrel life was around 2500 rounds.

George at GAP had some load data he was using out somewhere. You may wish to check his web site.

115 BN coated D-Tac.
My Tactical Match load is 47.3 gr. of H1000, it shoots realy well out of my rifle, and it's very temperature insensitive unlike Rl-25.

That 6 Ackley that you're shooting will get there and then some, try the powders above that guys are using in the 243's (assuming that your twist is fast enough) and you can probably beat the 243 handily. The long neck on that 6 AI is going to help your barrel life too.

47 grains of RL17 with the 115 DTAC will get ya 3200 fps in your 6mm

your 1 in 7 twist might eat them up though if it is a 3 groove...

my older ackley, not the stiller I have listed, ran a 107grn sierra at 3510fps with 44grns of varget, it had a 1/8 twist 28" barrel but im considering a 243 so I can go with a short action if it will hang anywhere comparbably close
