Anyone load up some Barnes 127lrx in a 6.5 prc? Looking at building a rifle with a tl3 action and proof carbon barrel to hunt with it. I’m in California so I’m restricted to copper.

Not a PRC but I did take 2 deer last year with the 127 LRX shot out of my AI chambered in 6.5 SLR - 2957 FPS through a 24" barrel. My rifle shoots very very well with these bullets. I made a head shot on a doe at 412 yards and took a buck at 698. The buck at 698 was facing towards me. The bullet entered the front of the chest on the deer's right side, travelled the entire body and got lodged in the left rear quarter. The deer was DRT and the slug did a decent job expanding considering the distance. It was 100% intact and expanded to maybe .32" Ive killed over 20 deer with 30 cal and 6.5mm barnes LRX bullets over the last few years and always had good performance. Barnes bullets like speed, so I would think you would have excellent results with the PRC. Good luck!

I have loaded the 127 LRX with Retumbo 60.5 gr's, and had great results. MV = 3162. And accuarcy was great 1/2 moa at 100yds. Coal is 2.905" and they fit and feed just fine in a short action.

Shooting 124gr Hammer Hunters out of a 6.5x284...absolute lazer beam. Hand turned solid coppers that have been highly accurate. MVs around 3000fps without really pushing. Steve Davis (owner) will even provide you with tested load recommendations.

Not the same gun, but very similar.
