In a 1:11 or slower twist they shoot great, I couldn't get them or the 110gr Sierra to shoot well in my AAC-SD 1:10 or GAP with 1:10. In the two 1:12 rifles and the 1:11.25 rifle I had no problem finding a load that they shot as well as any other. I thought I loaded the, for my 20" 5r but I didn't. I do have data for them with my 24" 5R, 20" LTR, and 24" AI AE with a 4 groove 1:12 Lothar. I don't have charge numbers writin down on the LTR and it's been long enough that I don't remember but my dope shows 3160FPS. I know that it was with Varget. The 24" 5R was 3210FPS with 51gr Varget in Hornady brass and the AIAE with 3290 with 50.5gr in Lapua brass.
They will make a groundhog unrecognizable if you hit it right as far as 300 yards out. Beyond that the velocity really drops off and once you get beyond 500 yards the accuracy really drops off and hits on varmint sized game are next to impossible. The bullet is still supersonic but it just isn't accurate. Even on paper on calm days it was inconsistent beyond 500 in all 3 rifles.
I had a 300RUM built with a 31" 1:15 twist 3 groove pacnor specifically for the light bullets. I ended up with a 110 VMAX at just over 4200FPS with more left in it. It only dropped 1.8mils to 600 yards from a 100 yard zero. When I was coyote hunting or killing deer on damage stamps I ran my elevation to a 300 yard zero and could hold dead on beyond 400 yards. It was stupid on a coyote, they would be all but torn in half and the small damage stamp deer of central VA didn't fair any better. I'm curious how they would work at 308 velocities on deer, I've used 87gr VMAX in 243 and it works well.
