First post and good evening, shooting 280ai had my SD below 10 on a string of 5 shooting 61.1gr H4831sc Nice groups and pretty happy until I opened a new box of SMK’s and the ogive to base changed by .025” now to maintain distance from the lands I’m seating deeper, causing more psi and increasing FPS pretty much jacked things up. Is the variance in ogive common throughout bullet makers? any input is appreciated .

Greasewood: Ive not seen a difference in the ogive on the SMK’s, but if you are having to seat the bullet deeper may I recommend that you reduced the load by .5 grains, this will asset you in getting the pressure down.

I’ve had Hornandy do it as well.
Just do another load development with them.
It will be easy as it won’t be far from your original load.
