155 Amax ?

155 Amax loads are working well in my 700 5R. I am working up a load for my AR10.

I know that lots of people are pushing the 155 palma type bullets fast to get out to 1K. the amax bullets have a more modest BC.

Amax's are cheaper than 175 SMKs by $5-7 dollars per 100.

Any experience with these?
What would you expect out of them at distances past 500?

I am loading with Varget and RE15.

My 155 load is the Scenar over 45.7 grains of RE15 and its running about 2850ish out of my 19 inch barrel, i like RE15 more than i like Varget. YMMV

Im using the 155 A-Max in my 700 VLS with cut to 20" factory barrel. Im loading 46.3gr of RL-15 in WCC cases with CCI primers. They have averaged 2775fps from my gun and group pretty consistently at .75 MOA. I have only run them out to 200 though, still working on getting farther.

I use the 155 AMAX in my Rem 700 26" barrel with Varget. My high FPS node is at 47.2g @ 2915 av/FPS with Win brass and Wolf LR primers. For a gasser I'd think something around 45.5-45.6 would be a good area for load dev. This was a mid-range FPS accuracy node for me in the low-mid 2700 FPS range

Remember to start low and work up.

I have loaded the 155 AMAX in Win/Black Hills brass using 44-45 gr of Benchmark with an average velocity right around 2980 fps from a 26" Rock 5R. Accuracy out to 600 was very respectable and at the time was the greatest distance to test them. I would expect them to retain the same accuracy to at least 1K.

Loading with Varget you may need to bump your charge up a bit. I think my charge with Varget was right around 47.8 to get the same velocity but I was geting a bit of pressure so I stayed with Benchmark.
