Guys I'm looking for a bit of advice about COAL. In my rifle running the 155gr Scenars I reach the lands at 2.844. I'm currently loading to 2.824 for a .02 jump. My first question is do the Scenars in general react best to jump or jam? Secondly where do you suggest I load to, I can reach the lands and still mag feed but not sure if this is the best way to go?

Thanks in advance.

Rath

Re: 155 Scenar?

I have not noticed much difference in seating depth. So far, they have shot well in all of my rifles. The ojive varies from lot to lot, so I don't push it. I would rather know they will all feed than to get to the range with ammo I can't shoot. If I get sub MOA accuracy, I'm happy and they achieve better than that with little effort.

Re: 155 Scenar?

In my FNH SPR I tried evrything from .050" to .010" off the lands and noted no dicernable difference. In my new M2008 GAP rifle I am running them .020" off the lands and they shoot great.

I haven't felt the need to get into the lands with them working this well now. They are averaging well under .5 MOA and they work well out to 1000 yards too.

Re: 155 Scenar?

In my .308 the 155L bullets have prefered some jump, they have really not liked touching lands. .308 tight palma 95 chamber, RL 15 46.1 155L bullet, Lapua case, LMG Wolf primer, Mag. length .10 Jump. 2940 fps have shot 6 round groups 100 yds groups .3 minutes, single digit SD and ES. It will shoot under 1 1/2" at 300 yds if I do my part

Main reason to load long more powder
ie
2.900 OAL 47.8gr varget </div></div>Lordy. Just by some math and the Sierra book that load should be doing around 3k FPS. Have you tested it?

Re: 155 Scenar?

Man. I'm using 07 LC LR brass and 43gr of R-15 is the most you can fit in there at 2.800. Any more powder I get a ring around the bullet from my seating die and the bullet is hard to push in there. When I load a longer OAL the groups open up. With this load, I'm getting 2770 from a 26" tube. Shoots great out to 600, I've had some .3-.4MOA groups at 100 too.
