156 Berger EOL in 6.5

They are almost as long as a 260 Rem case!

I will put them through a ladder test and see how they do.

What powder will you use, Rl16?

H4350. Loaded between 39.7 to 41.5 gr. Didn’t get any “crunch” at the top of the ladder.

At lands, they were about 3.050 OAL, but my magazine can only accommodate 2.95 OAL, so I’m a bit off the lands. On the other hand, the Berger hybrids (130 and 140 gr) have performed phenomenally and have been very insensitive to seating depth.

If you haven’t tried the Berger Hybrids, give them a try. I had been a strictly Hornady guy beforehand.

I can shoot both the 130 and 140 gr hybrids without changing my zero.

I do all my reloading distance measurements in metric, as it makes shooting MRAD a lot easier for me. So, I shoot around 2638 FPS with 130s and 2608 FPS with 140s.

I bought the 156 Hybrids for a 6.5 PRC that I am building on a long action, and for that I wanted the longest heaviest bullets I could find. I won't have that action for another month or so, and I was going out shooting, so I figured I may as well load them up into my 260 Rem. Plus, I really got good performance out of the 130s, and 140s, and I wanted to see how the 156s would do.

Concerning speed, I tend to be pretty conservative in all things and a rule follower . Therefore, I usually look up Hodgdon's reloading online and do my load development off of their max charge and descend from there to find a node. If I find a good node, and it shoots well, I am pretty happy. I don't do competition and I haven't shot beyond 1000 m, thus it works well for me.

They performed well in my 6.5 PRC. 2,821 f/s. I haven’t tried them yet at any sort of range.

140 gr bullets are better suited for my 260 Rem.
