Good Afternoon,
We are heartened and encouraged by the voice that teens across the nation are finding related to the recent tragic school shooting in Parkland, Florida. A group of LAHS Students are planning a local demonstration at LAHS this Wednesday, March 14 from 10:00 am - 10:17 am during the 2B period. In alignment with the national movement, the walkout is scheduled to be for 17 minutes to remember the 17 students and staff who lost their lives.
As a school we are pleased to have a chance to accommodate this expression of student opinion and voice. There are various staff members that have expressed interest in participating, and some who have expressed their willingness to stay in their rooms to help monitor students who do not wish to participate. A student or staff member should neither feel discouraged from attending, nor should they feel required to.

DETAILS:
- Students will be released at approximately 10:00 am via a brief announcement over the P.A. system
- Interested students and staff will gather to remember
- Students in 2B classes who DO NOT wish to participate are asked to stay in their classrooms.
- Instruction will be paused during the student event.
- Students who leave campus or violate school rules for safety, etc. will be subject to discipline.
