My .308 is getting close to the end of it's life and I'm set on getting a new 18" barrel in a lighter contour. Do you think I could get above 2700 fps with a 162 AMAX out of a 7-08?

Get a tight bore barrel, it will help with the velocity.

Very unlikely without excessive pressures!Probably more in the 2500-2600fps range.A friend of mine is having trouble getting that with his 24 inch barrel.
