1903 Springfield question

The rifle looks right, the stock is a replacement that some idiot did a piss poor job of fitting. Most 1903 stocks I've seen required very little fitting, not the butchering that guy did.

I think if one bought that rifle they should get another stock.

I assumed that most of it was due to bad fitting. I'm just not sure how the buttplate ended up looking undersized. Is it off center or something?

I would pass on that rifle. The stock is a civilian replacement (no cartoughes) and is poorly fitted. In pic #2, the barrel band does not even touch the barrel. This type of shoddy work would lead me to believe this could be a parts gun. There are way too many good examples out there on the market in this price range.
I recently sold a new condition arsenal reconditioned '03-A3 for that same amount.
