I’m looking for some 1911 mags. I want metal bottom, flush fit. Any suggestions? Any thoughts on the flush fit 8 rd mags? These will be used in a full size 80 series if that makes a difference.
Thanks.

I'm not a fan of any 8 round mags, but Wilson makes metal bottomed mags in both 7 and eight round. Metalform also makes very good metal bottomed 7 round mags. The melform ones will be flush, where the Wilson's will protrude a tiny bit.

Wilson/Rogers mags are great but they have a protruding metal bottom. Expect to pay $40 or so for them but they work.

I have never had a problem with Colt 7 rounders and I think Brownells has them at about $20.

Bought some of the CMP GI surplus items ($10) and the one Ive used worked fine in a Commander but for some reason they caused hangups in my M45A1. This using ball ammo. I switched the followers to a round top Pachmayer accessory ($10) and they work better. Should have just bought Colts.

I have some flush bottom colt mags, if interested I'll send you some. I've always used either the Wilson 47d or the Chip McCormick mags, over the years collected quite a few mags, not a big deal to part with some if it would help you out.

If you don’t use them, pm a price shipped or if other, let me know if a donation in a fair market price to nra ila or other pro constitution org of your choosing will work. Buying mags somewhere is not a problem, but if we can repurpose some mags, I’m all for it. Thanks.

P M me your address, and I'll ship them out on Monday. Just pay it forward to another Brother in the future.

May not be what your exactly looking for and with the buy out of CMC by WIlson, but I really recommend the CMC railed power mags in terms of durability and function. Not sure though if they are offered in a metal only bottom. Enjoy!

Chip McCormick - Reasonable price, as good as any mag out there. Not a fan of Wilson, bought a couple of new ones a few years back and sliced my thumb near to the bone on the feed lips loading the first round. Apparently that batch didn't make it through the deburring process.

Yes, I have Metalforms, Shooting Stars, STIs and others for comparison.

Not a fan of eight round mags, the extra spring pressure is hard on the feed lips and the springs weaken early.

Tripp Research CobraMag has been my favorite for my 1911's.

Wilson is a close 2nd.

+1 for Tripp Cobra Mags, they are exceptional. I carry the 8R-45-RG’s with the alloy base plates. They look fantastic and drop beautifully from my Springfield’s. I wouldn’t trust my life to any other mags; I keep the Springfield mags for the range.

I just got five of these:

The price was right, not flat base but they have a nice round follower and the base pad isn't overly large.

So far they feed dummy rounds fine and lock the slide on empty.

Much better than the gun show "Colt" magazines I bought last which seem to be absolute garbage fakes with followers too soft to hold their shape and poorly formed feed lips.

I had four working 1911 magazines before, one unmarked 7 round, one 8 round Chip McCormick and two Mecgarr. Now I have five more that look at least as nice as the generic and better than the rest. Hopefully they will prove reliable too.
