I have a Springfield Ultra Compact 1911 loaded stainless. I took it apart to clean it, and it has a two piece guide rod. This thing is a pain to try and put back together so I want to switch it out. Problem is I'm not sure which guide rod to replace is with. Any ideas on brand and which model to replace to a one piece guide rod. Links would be awesome.

Thanks

Walter

Probably a tad too long

Re: 1911 Question

Thanks after looking more and more online at work there is only one aftermarket guide rod for that gun. But I took the factory guide rod out and took it apart, and the part that is a pain is the dual spring set up it has. I want to get away with that so I don't have to use the little plastic piece to take the gun apart.

Thanks

Walter

Re: 1911 Question

the compact 1911s run better with two piece guide rods. The Goverment model is different as it will run good with either. In most commander and officer models you will be hard pressed to get them to run reliably with a standard guide rod and spring.
