Picked Mas 49/56 Sniper rifle ( along with a 2nd 49/56) not to long ago and once I get some 7.5 French ammo for it I will be taking it out to the range. Can't tell you a lot about it other than it appears to be a well built rifle though I would call this more of a DMR than a Sniper rifle though I have read that they are very accurate out to 800m

Now that’s a Unicorn right there! Very cool!

Great accessories you have collected To go with it. Well-presented!

The 7.5 was a good long range cartridge. 800 yds would be no problem, though that would be torso shots... it will probably group “Minute of Algerian” at that range.

The 7.5 french is ballisticly close the 7.62 nato so expect similar results as other rifles of the day also i believe the French did wind up converting many over to 7.62 for use as enhanced accurate rifles.

From what I have read there where some converted to 7.62x51 by the French, but they are very rare. Century converted alot of them on import to 308, though there performance was less than steller. (Overgassing)

Do you reload?

The 7.5 French MAS is simply the 6.5x55 necked up to 30 caliber.
If you had dies and 6.5x55 brass, you simply run the 6.5x55 Swedish into the 7.5 French die and trim to length.
The base and shoulder would be just a couple thousandths undersized, but would very safely fireform to your chamber.
