Rifle Scopes 1st Focal Plane vs 2nd Focal Plane

Forgive me for my ignorance as I am new to tactical scopes. It seems to me that with a first focal plane scope, if your illumination battery is dead or you cannot find the correct battery, at lower magnifications you will never be able to see you reticle at lower light levels or in a quick response situation. Opinions please

So where we're you the past two months while I was shooting $500 dollars of ammo at Red Castle Gun Club thinking I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, only to discover a loose acttion & barrel ole wise one??? You coulda done a local redneck a solid and saved me a heap o change.
