Just signed up for the site tonight and figured I would do my 1st post here as I am starting from the basics when it comes to precision rifle.

I have a lot of handgun experience, and a good amount of AR & shotgun experience from police training.... but my only long range shooting experience is the deer I missed 5x from 200 yards and in two years back. So obviously I need a little work

I ordered the Magpul precision rifle video series, but after watching what I imagine is PHD level long range shooting I realized I'm going to need to get my GED 1st.

Over the weekend I got a killer deal on a Savage 10fp with the threaded barrel, so I'm off and running. Next up will be base, rings, glass, and a lot practice. I also want to get started on some handloads with the press my lovely wife bought me for christmas.

Hello to all and I look forward to learning and contributing.

Welcome to the Hide, a lot of great info on here but sometimes ya gotta sort thru it all to find what works for you and fills your needs.

You got a great gun to start off with and can add to it as you find areas it or you are lacking as your skill increases. Good basic stuff will get you well on your way but doing some research and also going to places where shooters shoot the long distances will save you time and also a lot of money on getting equipment that works.

It can be frustrating but is also very rewarding when it starts to come together.

Good luck

Don't worry, with a bit of practice and some good gear, you will be drilling 2" targets at 200yds in no time! A precision rifle, drove correctly, is amazingly accurate. Always keep learning and welcome abroad.
