So I’m in the process of building a 6.5 saum and I’m going with a 20” Bartlein 3b barrel, haven’t seen just a few on here. If you have one post it up and would like to know your rifle specs. Rifle weight. etc. strictly a hunting Rifle. Reason for going shorter I’ll be using a suppressor.

might be better off looking in the reloading depot and the 6.5 saum thread there. i'm sure some will chime in but theres likely a good discussion already. also...long range hunting is likely a good spot

I agree with the above post about neutering the SAUM with a 20" barrel. I'd do 23-24" minimum for that round even with a can. I went through this same deal with a 300WSM (even more short barrel friendly than a 6.5 saum) and went 24" with an omega can. A 6.5 creed with a 147 and RL26 powder will accomplish VERY near the same thing (~2850-2900 fps) and give you double the barrel life, less recoil, easier to find brass and factory ammo, etc. But hey if you want a 20" SAUM dragon go for it!

It’s a little late on talking me out of it haha. Area 419 should be finishing up with it this week hopefully. I’ll probably shoot 130s or 135s. If they break the 3k mark I’ll be stoked. It’ll still be faster than a creed or x47 at that length and same weight bullets. My 24” 6.5x47 I currently hunt with is shooting 123 elds at 2850 and I’m getting slight ejector marks.

Aye if you can find RL-26 it's magic with the 6.5 Cm heavies. Getting 2800fps with 47.1gr in my 21" creedmoor with 147's. 48.0 is about the max (61ksi). My experience is that accuracy and SD's fall off much over 47gr anyway, but every barrel is different.

So far so good, got it a 1.5 weeks ago. Accuracy is to be expected, I have 150 rds on it as of today. Slinging 143 elds at 2970 w/h1000 and 140 Berger Elite Hunters at 2980 w/h1000 also.

Tried h4350 with the 143s and achieved 2910 but was getting slight pressure. So I’ll just stick with h1000 unless I can find RL26...
