I have a 2-10x40 scope, with a one piece mount on my 20" AR15.
I want to use this on my Remington 700 and switch this scope between the two.

Should I get scope base with 20 MOA for my 700 if my AR doesn't have any MOA to it?
Do I have other options?

I don't think you would benfit from a 20 moa mount on your 700.

However, I don't think you will like the very high scope height on it either.

I know, I'm looking for a new stock with an adjustable cheek piece too. The mount is pretty low for an AR 1.2".

Still high for a remington. You would probably benefit from getting rings for the remington and saving for another optic.
20MOA base for the remington will be fine using rings.

Yeah, I am saving for a new optic, just wanted to use my good glass on both systems for the mean time.

Depends on the stock, your face structure.
I have a 700 with the varmint laminated stock (similar to the HTG) and the NF medium rings are to high. I am waiting on a set of the NF low rings I just bought. I still might need a stock pack.

Good to know. My objective is only 40mm, I should be able to drop it pretty low. I'll do some measurements.

Any recommendations on a picatinny rail for the 700. I currently have a EGW rail, but it's not a full rail. It is cut out down the middle. I'm not a huge fan. I feel there isn't enough contact for the ring lugs. (I could be wrong.)

I just purchased two sets of TPS rails for my 700s. I was impressed with the finish and the fit. I bought TPS rings as well. For the price, they seem hard to beat. My rifles are not duty rifles, but they seem perfect for my use.

How far out do you plan on shooting? Does the scope at present have enough elevation to get you as far as you need without the extra angle? I don't like the height of the 20moa bases. Even with an adjustable cheek piece I don't like the feel. I'd say if you can dial as much elevation as you need without the base then don't buy it.

That's a good point. I don't have an elevation issue with the flat top. So the 20moa doesn't seem needed.
