I just tried to sight my 700 .308 in and ran into an issue. My setup is as follows: SPS-V in HS precision stock, weaver 3-15x50 tactical, warne medium fixed rings and a standard 0 moa rail. I started shooting prone @ 50 yards to get it on paper really quick. But even at 50 it was shooting 2.5-3 foot low so i adjusted the scope up, alot. Got it dialed in backed out to 100 and it was about 18 inches low, dialed it up and shot about 2 inches high. But i ran out of adjustment. The scope was dialed all the way up. So my thinking is i need to put a 20 moa base on the rifle then back to the range. Does this sound right? Or is a 20 moa not enough in this case? I want to leave as much elevation adjustment as possible in the scope once it's mounted. The weaver I have has 80 moa of internal adjustment and was tracking right when i shot the rifle.
