i just ordered a 20 moa base for my 700 sps varmint with a 26 inch barrel. i was wondering if i will be able to see my suppressor in the bottom of my scope. if so will it cause focus problems and the need for taller rings.

it seems like i have seen something on this subject before but my search didn't turn up anything. thanks in advance for any advice.

I wouldn't worry about it..

My immediate thought would be your scope would not "see" it. Much like the front sight post on my LR308, smack-dab in the middle of the viewing area, but the focus is downrange so it's "ignored" optically when I look through my scope. I know there is a technical word for it, but I'm at a loss for it now. Out of the focal plane?

Here is the view I have through my setup. forgive the crappy cell photo.

So in short, I don't think you'd have anything to worry about, at all! Good luck!!

Re: 20 moa base with supressor

I am running a 24" barrel and a 9" long suppressor with a 25 MOA base. If I have my scope on 4 power I can see some of the suppressor in the bottom of the reticle. Since I never use 4 power it is not an issue, actually I don't think it would be an issue if I did.

The bigger issue will be the heat emitted from the suppressor. You might want to think about getting a blanket for it so the heat does not distort your view through the scope.

Hope this helps.
