Ran across this powder at a gunshow this weekend, quick check of Alliants site listed it as a medium rifle powder with a secondary use for heavy bullet 223 loads. However they don't list any 223 loads, neither does anyone else so I figured I would see what I can do with it.

Test gun: DPMS receivers, White Oak Armaments 18" SPR bbl.
Components for 1st test: New Winchester 223 Brass, Remington 7 1/2 Primer, primer uniformed and hole deburred, Hornady 75gr BTHP. OAL 2.260, lightly crimped.
I found reports on the powder listing it as similar to RL-15 so I used Hornady's listing of 24.1 as a base and reduced it 10% to 22.0. I loaded a single round of 22.0, 22.5, 23.0 to check for pressure signs, None noticed.
Groups of 3 rounds were then loaded and tested for preliminary groups:
23.5 .380 group
24.0 1.325 group
24.5 .810 group
25.0 .670 group
I stopped at 25.0 since it was a full grain over the base RL-15 data listed. No pressure signs were noted at anytime. Next round of testing will take it up a bit more to see where the max really is for my gun. Chonograph testing will follow once I get a new tripod to mount it on.
The accuracy makes it worth following up with further testing so will update this as I proceed.
