The entirety of the law enforcement community was enraged that some punk kids video of being assaulted by this officer was used as evidence in his firing - that was not how things worked then . Some still haven’t gotten the memo.

my wife had a work friend - her husband was a cop that worked at county impound yard- almost everything in their house and a garage and barn full of stuff- he called abandoned property- he took from vehicles at the impound yards - tools guns - CDs - clothing , speakers rows of hydraulic jacks and jumper cables, talked to his buddy’s at the bbq event we attended that he bought his competition smoker with pocket change “people just left in vehicles.”

We turned down several more invites to their events the rest of the time my wife worked with that guys wife - she asked one day why we never come over . My wife being a great sales person but also brutally honest- said - “ we don’t associate with thieves!”
The lady just gave a knowing nod and never mentioned it again . This would have been 2009-10 time frame .

Side note - the chief of police in that small town - his oldest daughter was busted driving an Escalade, from impound - full of drugs also from impound - yep they had a house full of evidence that somehow followed them home .

The sheriff of that tiny county we lived a the time has been featured here on snipershide- during early Covid he smashed a citizens camera , broke his nose , tried to poke his eyes out and locked him up for a 4 day holiday weekend and then just released him with no booking, no prints , no evidence that he’d ever been locked up - no phone call . That sheriff was allowed to resign with full pension. The county paid a huge civil suit .
