Any one used the 210 berger vld in a .308 win case ?
Loads and results ?
Looking at jbm I think at 2500 or 2600 its good to 1000y
Could make a good Target and long distance hunting load for the .308

Re: 210gr berger vld in .308win

With LAPUA brass (sorry no Win brass)
I used 42.4 grn varget @ 2510 fps
And. 45.2 grn Viht n550 @ 2530fps

Both extremely good groups for me, and cut thru the wind beautiful,
BUT... Gave up because

1. Expensive bullets
2. Loose primer pockets on 4th reload
3. Too long for AI mags (loaded 10 thou off my lands)

Back to good old 178 amax for me!!!

RL-17 or one of the new N-series powders that are classed as "high energy" are probably what you're going to want to use. The 210 VLD shot very similarly to the 208 Amax in my 30-06. Also, don't overlook the 210 LRBT that Berger makes. Excellent BC but it is jump tolerant too.

I shot the 210 VLD for some time in my .308 bolt gun. I harvested cool looking antelope buck at 335 yards with it too. I used 50.1 gr. of RL 17. It was compressed for sure, but wicked accurate and silly fast to boot. Switched back to 208 AMAX's for the $ value though. Same load, same accuracy, same dope, just easier on the wallet. You should read the 208 AMAX and RL 17 thread if you haven't already.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Will start with varget and 550
Need to load to magazine oal
Thought the vld would open better on game than the 208 amax
