215 berger ADG brass question

Hey guys I have a 300 win mag seems to be running hot, with 74 grains of h1000 215 bergers I’m over 3,000 with a 26 inch barrel but I’m losing primer pockets with Winchester brass, my initial ladder test I hit 3100 at 76.5 before I got extractor swipes. I found a good load at 73.5 I’m averaging 2965 .025 off the lands. Anyways I just got new ADG brass with hopes the pockets hold better. My question is how far off should I drop my charge with new brass? I’m thinking 2 grains and work up till I find that speed of 2965 again.

2-3 grains should work fine. I'd err on the side of caution and work from about 3 grains off. I say that having run into pressure issues with 215s and H1000 in my rifle as well using Nosler brass. I will tell you that switching to ADG jumped me just shy of 100fps with RL26 (switched to that for the 215s and haven't had the pressure issues since), I imagine the velocity jump could be greater with H1000 (hence erring on the side of caution).

Thanks Mac, I’ve been looking for RL26 for a month I can’t find it anywhere, I have 11 lbs of h1000 so I hope I can find a load with that. I loaded 70.5-73.5 last night so I’ll run them and stop around 2950-75 and tweak from there

The right row is 3@ 73.5 I can’t tell it kind of looks like a shadow of a swipe, each row to the left is -.5 I’m not sure if these look fine or not. The Winchester brass definitely has swipes but could have been from the previous load I didn’t clean between. I’m .025 off the lands and groups are garbage, I re tightened my pic rail it seemed to have backed out and I hoped that took care of the accuracy and it didn’t do much I had a couple loads 2 in a hole then one 2 inches away. And the rest were scattered 1.5-2.5 inch groups. I have a SWFA SS 10x on it now next move I’m swapping the scope with a leupold off my muzzleloader. I don’t know if it’s the gun, scope or me I’m new to all of this

Ever get it figured out?

Ever get it figured out?

yea massive carbon ring and the gun hates Bergers, with the adg brass 76 of h1000 I’m getting 2970 with the 208 eldm, no pressure signs and have shoot Most 3 round groups under .5, I also switched to the cci 250’s instead of the fed 215m

How much were you jumping the bergers?

Im running 77.6 H100 on 210 berger vlds. It just works load after load, across different brass (norma/Win). Dont remeber my exact length but thats how i do it.

I tried just about everything with the Bergers and I couldn’t get them to shoot, as soon as I started using the eldms and eldx the gun started behaving

Jumping 30 thousandths between groups is a lot. Chances are you missed a good seating depth.
I started jammed then .02,.04,.06. And my best was .06, Then I called Berger and they suggested .03,6,9,12 and said I should see a depth better than the others and work off it. I went a thou on either side and 6 was the best at like 1.5-1.7 inch groups

Just to be clear, you're saying .02, .04, .06 - this is 20 thousandths, 40 thousandths, 60 thousandths. Some people say that a seating depth node is as small as 6 thousandths, meaning you're probably jumping right by one or more of them by doing 20 thousandths between groups. I've read their article about going in .03 increments for VLDs, but I haven't seen them espouse that for hybrids.

I've found that with Berger hybrids, if you start at .015 off the lands and work out at .003" increments, you'll find a good depth pretty quickly.

10-4 yea the guy at Berger said do the vld recommendation for the hybrid and said once it tightens up work off that. The eld’s are way less picky I did 2,4,6 thou and 6 was great.
