which of the 3 would be the best all around for game up to hogs not to eat pest control

Re: 22/17 or 223

Depends how big your hogs are. I would suggest a 22lr for hunting the little critters (rabbit, squirrel, etc...) with intention of eating the meat. 22wmr or 17hmr for general "small" pests (raccoons and such) because of the extra lethal range and the extra damage done to the animal when compared to a 22lr. But IMHO for hogs, big or small, 223 is the bare minimum. In reality, anything will work with proper shot placement. But I personally like large wound channels for pest control

Hogs are tough with thick skins. .223 can and often does the job.
I personally wouldn't use anything less than .243. And .260 is even better. I'm just saying.....

Lots of great information on other bullets .. !

p.s: I'm not that great of a shooter. But,.. I would use the " .22 Rimfire " for " Pig / Coyote " ( Observing Legal Hunting Law ) within 50 + yards for Headshots!
