I've got a 1:12" Savage #12 VLP and I don't bother loading anything above 60grs.

I tried that scenario about three decades ago, 69 SMK's, back before I knew any better.
IIRC it couldn't do any better than a couple of inches at 100 yards. 55 grain all shot into little ragged bugholes with that rifle. Wish I still had that one.

Right now I shot 55gr. Bullets so I think I will stick with them.

Right now I shot 55gr. Bullets so I think I will stick with them.

As stated before, the 14"tw bbls wont stabilize the heavies. 60gn Vmax or NosBT is about as heavy as you can go. 50 & 55 are usually very nice.

Sierra 63 gr SMP shoot pretty dang good from my Rem 22-250 SPS V with the 1 in 14" twist.

Here's my brand spankin' new 1:12" Savage 22-250 firing some Tubb Final Finish 80gr SMKs, sans scope, at 25 yds.
Not bad for using the 'point shooting method' and sighting down the barrel!

When I ran a 22-250 it had a 1-14 twist. I could only get the 50 grain V-Max's to shoot with I4895, never could do much with the 55's, the 69's are a pipe dream in a 1-14 twist.

60gr max if your lucky. 55s more like it. with the 60s going to have to push it hard. 50gr combined tech out of my kimber shoots one hole. I got a 22-250 Ackley with 1:14 that will shoot the 64gr bergers i the .1s but its running them on the top end of the powder charge weight.

just started fireforming for my 22-250 ackley and i am interested to here what powder you are running with the 64g bergers and how big of powder charge you are at.

ONESHOTKYLE---TRY imr 4320 works for me with 60 gr. An overlooked powder in the 22 250 today but was well used thirty years ago with fine results, This my choice in my 22 250 and 22 250 AI, pretty versatile from 1/14 twist to a 1/8 twist 75 gr.............. 35.7 gr IMR 4320 60 gr Hornady, work up to this, no pressure in mine , but judge your results. A suggestion Work from 34.7 up, mine is about 3500 fps.

It's easy, just subtract the length of the bullet instead of the diameter. Trust me it works.
