Hey guys i was wondering im shooting a rem 700 sps tactical 223 20in bbl, and i was wanting to work up a long range load the barrel if im not mistaken is a 1in9 twist it recommends a 1 in 8 twist shooting anything heavier than a 70 gr what is the result of shooting a 80gr load out a 1 in 9 twist

I'd try the 80's but Straight up, I've never got them to shoot in less than an 8-twist.

The 1/9 twist might shoot the Hornady 75gr Amax's though, just have to try them and see. They are a good bullet and I've had some good results with them. For me, I prefer the 80gr Amax's but they seem to require a 1/7-something twist. Having said that, all of the 80gr bullets I've shot worked better with a 1/7-something twist.
