Suppressors .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

I'm looking at getting a .22 pistol and I'm planning on putting a can on it to just play around with. But I am not sure of what is the best pistol to use. Right now I'm looking at the walther p22, the sig mosquito, and ruger mark 3. I have seen several mark 3's that were threaded for a suppressor here on the hide. Accuracy is somewhat of a concern, but not the only judging factor.

Let me know what y'all think and what y'all use.

Thanks,
Sean

Re: .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

Ive owned Ruger,Buckmark and P22 all threaded....Ruger is about the best of the lot although the P22 comes already threaded from the factory and you just need an adaptor for it...

Re: .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

The Ruger is by far my favorite platform for supression. I have one integrally supressed by SRT arms, flat out the quietest of all of my duces's. A mk II threaded and supressed with either a SRT Hmax or AAC pilot, runs great, a buckmark with a Tac Sol bbl that is also very quiet, just a bit dirtier than the Ruger, and a mosquito. All platforms perform good supressed. I also have a 22 conversion for my g19 that is threaded and runs great. IT is also very quiet, and a great training tool.
Depending on which carry pistol you own,(if you won one) you may want to look into a 22 conversion, so you can supress it, and train with it. Sig, 1911's ,and Glocks can all be converted for about the cost of a cheap 22.

Re: .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

I have a G17 but usually carry an XD45, but I have a friend that loves his ruger to death so I was already leaning that way. Not to mention it's the cheapest. But to get it threaded and to attach a suppressor and make it work with no glitches dose the smith need the suppressor and the gun or is it all universal still? Just a thought because of thefemale threads and the double male adapter.

Thanks for the input and advise

Re: .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

I'm running two Buckmarks (I think they now offer one that comes pre-threaded too) and using a TAC65 and a Universal 3. I like using the TAC as I can clean it much easier. Like them a lot.

Re: .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

By far the most useful and rewarding set-ups you will ever own. For every shot in another caliber, probably 100 shots with the .22. I really can't say enough good about the suppressed .22 pistol.

I use an Amphibian SS, after 30 years of production, this is the new Mark version with the latest can. What a pleasure. Very accurate as the whole barrel is under stress (compression.) Which ever way you go, hear the unit first, the .22 shake out very fast as well. I do not use a swap can in .22 as I have used a Ruger 77/22 Ultra II for decades (perhaps the quietest cartridge rifle in the world). Good luck.

"Originally developed for Amphibious Special Warfare Operations, the Amphibian S has undergone 13 variations over 29 years making it the most advanced and sought after integrated .22 cal. suppressor system in the world. From salt ocean water to dry land - dependable operation is guaranteed. The Amphibian S was developed to meet performance requirements in 3 specific areas: reduced weight, improved accuracy and extended service life. If you are already one of the thousands of users who are familiar with our previous Amphibian series pistols you will be pleasantly surprised how the Amphibian S lays in the hand. The weight reduction is remarkable and is achieved through a new baffle design that utilizes a Titanium & 303 stainless steel primary baffle system with 6061T6 secondary chambers. Improved accuracy is primarily achieved with this new integral design, and is also more responsive to simple user maintenance. Due to the radical aerodynamic function of this unit the sound reduction performance of the Amphibian S is simply remarkable. Often imitated, never equaled, the Amphibian S stands alone."

This is what I run as well as a SRT Ruger mk3 integral. I bought the Buckmark Camper Whisper with a factory threaded barrel and it feeds everything without issue.

I prefer my Advantage Arms .22lr rimfire conversion kit dedicated to a full-size Glock frame. I also have a Walther P22, SigArms Mosquito, S&W 2206, Ruger MKII, Ruger 22/45 and Marvel kit on 1911 frame, but the Glock is my favorite.

Re: .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

I have a buckmark and run a aac element and a sometime a aac pilot. The pilot is super light and the exact same dia as the tacsol barrell. Its a really fun setup and super quiet.

Re: .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

I'm running a Buckmark with the 7.5" barrel, threaded to accept my AAC Pilot. It's reliable and quiet. And fun!
Can anybody recommend a 1911 .22 conversion kit that's threaded? I'm going to build a dedicated supressed .22 on a 1911 frame.

Marvel Precision makes a version that is threaded. I bought mine before they started offering it and then had it threaded. If you look it's down towards the bottom. Mine has beem very reliable and super accurate (I dont have a supressor yet, just set up so I can do it when I can finally afford one)

Don't think so, report is prety pleasant but haven't chronographed them.

Re: .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

If its not supersonic if should be quieter than a paintball gun, more like a pellet gun. My buckmark has the 4" tacsol and I can easily hear the projectil hit trees at 20ft away.
You should try some subs and see if its way quieter or not.

Re: .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

i am also using a buckmark with 4" tacsol barrel / gemtec outback .this combo is perfect for me .i have used the ruger and like it but not as well . imo the walter is not in the same league , but good for plinking .
i have observed that many 22 pistols go supersonic around 6"+ or -
so bear this in mind if you want to shoot bulk ammo .

+ 1 for going with the 22 .. its all to often over looked ... i shoot mine all the time .

Re: .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

..

No well designed suppressed .22 pistol should need to use subs. There is an important point here. Some suppressed .22 actually require HV to be at their quietest. Why? Because the designers actually have tuned the pistols to particular velocities and bullet weights. There is a discussion that can take place here on what barrel lengths support super sonic velocities and, as a result, setting up a pistol to provide the right velocities by barrel length, porting, weights, etc. etc.

I would recommend a muzzle silencer for greater flexibility. You can ship and receive a weapon for threading in a few weeks, but purchasing a silencer on a form 4 takes 2-5 months. Integrals are excellent low signature platforms, but are slaved to one weapon, while a muzzle can can be moved to any rimfire you own or will own in the future.

Integrals make great additions to round out large NFA collections. Many NFA enthusiasts eventually find themselves looking to fill niche areas in their maturing collections and that is usually when items like integals, short barrel shotguns, AOWs, and Pen guns are purchased.

Re: .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

Have metered quite a few 22lr cans. Top 3 I can recommended without question for being top db reduction cans:

Libert Kodiak
SWR Spectre
Gemtech Outback II

Of the pistol platforms I have meter to date, the P22 is one of the louder pistols to suppress. The Mark III was excllent, very quiet pistol platform. Same for the Mark II withe Paclite upper.

I ran out of time before we got to meter integral pistols platforms, there's always next time, but did get to meter integral rifle platforms..........basically my bolt action 24" with any of the top 22lr cans was just as quiet if not quieter than integral rifle 22lr tested.

I get what your saying, but he said he had a 7" barrel which normaly will put regular bulk .22 ammo out at supersonic velocities. Which I guerentee is way louder than a 4" pistol pushing the same ammo at subsonic speeds. I figured his 7" may need subs to be subsonic with that barrel. I have found that CCI standard velocity is about 99% subsonic out of a 12" barrel, I guess it really depends on the ammo being used, but for a 22 to be really quiet, you need to get ammo that is subsonic out of your gun, thats the closest way to get to "movie quiet".

Re: .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

Are any of these cans able to be taken apart for cleaning? If so how often do you find you need to clean them? Sorry for the neub question but I really do not have much experience in .22 cans.

I did buy and have the paperwork for a TIGERSHARK in the works

Re: .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

Favorite .22 cans: SWR Warlock , SWR Spectre .
Basically the same unit , the Warlock is lighter and a bit shorter ... The Spectre is heavier-duty , i.e. , full-auto rated , can also be used for .22 mag , .17 HMR , and 5.7 FN (please confirm on their website ). It can also be taken apart for cleaning .
Favorite hosts: Walther PPK and Walther TPH are the neatest . For general shooting , I like the Tactical Solutions Pac-Lite , on the Ruger Mk-II/45 frame . With the Warlock installed , it is very light and quiet ... You can add water to either can , but I can't tell any difference ... SWR provides outstanding service . They are very customer-oriented ...

Re: .22 pistols, and suppresors, what do you like/use?

I like my AAC Dragonfly. For me, the Buckmark is easier to live with than a Ruger. If I could find one, I'd probably get one of the High Standards with a threaded barrel. Either that or a S&W Model 41 - that would be awesome!

I also have an Outback I use on a P22 or Mosquito. Great can, but those guns are a bit small. The Mosquito would be my pick of the two. I've also seen the Walther TPH with a threaded barrel - that would be a great pick as well.
