Re: 22 SASS

Try to match up the feel of your main rifle.

I had CLE make me an upper with the exact same barrel profile as my DPMS LR. Used the same trigger, stock, etc on the .22.

If you can't afford that, buy a cheaper gun or upper and weight it to match. Brownell's sells weights that go under handguards, you can stick anything in the buffer tube for weight, etc.

I'd lean toward the S&W for the cheapest "whole gun" option, or TacSol or Spikes for an upper. Stay away from Colt, CMMG or Model 1 sales.

S&W MP15-22

"Feels" the most like an AR, and mine shoots ~2MOA. Not exactly target grade accuracy, but at least it is certainly better than any of the .22 conversion kits that I've tried.

Feels like a plastic POS to me. Well at least that is how it feels in my hands. I have yet to shoot one, but when I get off my ass to get a .22 AR it will be the Spikes style upper. I will probably build it myself.

Well, OK there Mr. Sunshine...

Nah, I should have stated - I MagPul'd mine up a bit, mounted a Vortex Strikefire, and most significantly I put a SureFire 6P flashlight (the metal one) up front to add a bit of mass. It was amazing how much difference that little bit of extra weight made.

Re: 22 SASS

For a serious .22 the Spikes is hard to beat. For a plinking/training gun the S&W is hard to beat. It's tough to pay twice as much for an upper than you would for the whole S&W gun unless you really need the "real" feel of the Spikes.
