.22 with a muzzle brake?

Re: .22 with a muzzle brake?

The only one I have w/a brake is a Tactical Solutions barrel. When I bought the barrel it came with the brake and a plain thread protector. I put the brake on and it looked kind of neat so I use it mainly as a thread protector.

Re: .22 with a muzzle brake?

other than looks, or to have the threads protected for "other attachments" if a threaded on brake, not much recoil there to try to tame. whatever (any) muzzle jump would obviously be improved even closer to "0", but the brake would IMO be a waste to use on a .22 for any recoil reasons, even on semi / full auto applications.

maybe it can act as a tuner if your lucky enough to have it weigh enough and be effective as such at the end of the barrel.

Re: .22 with a muzzle brake?

Cosmetic is the only purpose I can see it serving. Had never thought about it protecting the muzzle crown until mentioned above.

All in all,,, there are rifles out there where the MB makes them look complete,,, while other rifles without them don't look complete. I think it just comes down to personal taste over potential function in my humble opinion.

Look at this way. They're available if you want one.

I agree, if you want one cuz you like the way it looks, then by all means put one on, like TP says, some of it is just because you can. But be prepared to get a few chuckles from the old salts at the range. Maybe even some minor pointing and laughing.
