I have read as much as I can without having a Sierra load manual. Hodgdon doesn't show the SMK, only
round nose data on H1000.
so anyone out there loading 220 SMK with H1000 have a favorite recipe? not looking for super hot mil type loads
but something in the range of 2600-2700 fps MV. Looking accurate loads out to 1K. any help or
opinions are appreciated. I also see various OAL of 3.340 to 3.5? Rifle is a Remmy 5R .300

My sierra manual says;
70.6 gr h1000-2600
73.9 gr h1000-2700
75.5 gr h1000-27.5

I run mine a little hotter to get the mv where I want it. This should be a good starting point for ya to tinker with. Good luck and shoot straight.

The federal mil loads I have are
76.5 h1000
220smk
3.455 oal

I never chrono'd so i dont know the speeds.
Verify your chamber will allow for this length.

3.5" max is the spec for the 300WM Mk 13 ammo.

If you want to slow it down a bit, stay well under the approx 77 grains quoted as used in that. Start around 73 grains and bump up a few tenths each go round, you'll find something your rifle likes best. Play with the seating depth after that, you should be GTG at 1k, no sweat.
